Cumulative facts and circumstances
Explain why the object fits the exception set forth above
The work has provenance to 1997 and has been exhibited and published since then. It was also checked against the Art Loss Registry by the previous owner in June 2012. This is an important addition to the Dayton Art Institute and the greater Miami Valley region as it is stylistically significantly different from a work of the same period in the collection. Its acquisition helps further scholarly research on and public enjoyment of the dynamic and diverse achievements of ceramics in Chinese history and culture.
