"Said to have been found in Japan's Kanto region and acquired by a private Japanese collector, possibly by the 1950s [see note 1]. Before 2013, purchased from the collector's heirs by the Mika Gallery, New York and Tokyo. Purchased in 2013 from the Mika Gallery.

This object originates from Japan and was issued an export permit from the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Government of Japan, on January 16, 2013. The Mika Gallery provided the Museum with a copy of the export permit at the time of purchase.
