According to the 1996 Sotheby’s catalogue, the Ear Ornaments come from the collection of Alan Lapiner, a scholar of ancient Peruvian art active in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. The Ear Ornaments were promised as a gift to the Museum by Lucille and Martin E. Kantor in 2000.
